ReVerbed are a multi-vocalist, female-fronted, aggressive pop-punk four piece from Doncaster, and they’ve recently released their nine-track mini-album, This Machine. Gosh, that was a mouthful. Anyway, we had a little chat with them, and you can read what happened below.
First of all, can you tell me a bit about yourselves and your mini album, This Machine?
We are a UK Aggressive Pop Punk band now based in Brighton. We self recorded and released our mini album ‘This Machine’ last November and we’ve had such an awesome response and still getting great feedback from it still. We definitely feel we’ve found our sound now.
Who influenced This Machine musically? And lyrically?
George is the main songwriter in the band. He comes to us with the main ideas of a song and then we all work together and add our own individual parts. Myself and George often collaborate during the lyric writing process and then we all work on the finishing touches of the songs as a band.
With two vocalists, how do you go about writing lyrics – combine ideas, write a song each, or does everyone chip in at the writing stage?
We don’t really have a set writing pattern for who will sing what, we both tend to try out different parts and whatever works best for the song we’ll go for. If it needs a higher harmony or vocal part then I will sing or if it needs more grit or a lower tone George will sing. Josh is a great harmonizer too which then adds an extra dimension to the vocals, so if there’s something missing between me and George he can usually fill the gap. That’s the really great thing about having 3 vocals, you have options and different levels.
What’s the reaction been like to the album, online and at shows?
The reaction has been better than we can have imagined. It’s undoubtedly our best material to date and reviewers and our fans seem to agree. We’ve even had people say to us they honestly never rated but since the new material they really like our new songs and actually are fans now!
You’ve done hundreds of shows in a relatively short space of time – how do you go about fitting them in around everything else in your life?
There’s no denying it’s been hardwork, we’re all at or have graduated from university and time management has been hard but we love it so much we’ve made it work. Our friends and loved ones are also so supportive and that’d helped us through, plus we have each other, we’re all the best of friends and that makes a big difference.
Finally, what can we expect to see from you for the rest of the year?
We’re touring over the Summer, got some great shows planned, including Guil Fest on the same stage as Gnarwolves, Gallows & Feed the Rhino, which we’re so stoked for!
We’ll also be finding some time to record some more material to released towards the end of the year. You can keep track of our shows and updates on all our social networking sites; www.facebook.com/reverbed www.twitter.com/reverbedband
